Who bootless makes the breathless housewife churn
Just watched this and I thought it was fascinating and really wonderful to watch! Especially the last 8 minutes or so which is of Mardi Gras in Haiti around 1950!
Maya Deren's fascinating footage captures Haitian voudoun (voodoo) dances and rituals from 1947 to 1951. Edited by Teiji and Cherel Ito 20 years after Deren's death, the documentary reveals Rada, Petra and Congo possession rites, as well as Rara and Mardi Gras celebrations. The film also includes explanations of the voodoo gods -- the Divine Horsemen, or loas -- as they relate to the dances and rituals.
